2016 World Chess Championship
« on: November 01, 2016, 03:15:31 AM »
In 10 days, the next chess world championship match begins between defending champion, Magnus Carlsen, and challenger, Sergey Karjakin...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chess_Championship_2016

And here is the known birth info for Carlsen...no known birth time currently for Karjakin...

http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Carlsen,_Magnus

So who will be the next World Champion?

"There is no step along the road that anyone takes by chance. It has already been taken by him, although he has not yet embarked on it. For time but seems to go in one direction. We undertake a journey that is over. Yet it seems to have a future still unknown to us." "  (Jesus).

If the birth time for Carlsen is correct, then here is his current Vimshottari Dasha...

Vimsottari Dasa:

 Sun MD: 2011-07-24 (1:22:06 am) - 2017-07-23 (12:14:38 pm)

  Antardasas in this MD:

  Sun: 2011-07-24 (1:22:06 am) - 2011-11-10 (3:06:44 pm)
  Moon: 2011-11-10 (3:06:44 pm) - 2012-05-11 (6:01:06 am)
  Mars: 2012-05-11 (6:01:06 am) - 2012-09-16 (2:03:10 am)
  Rah: 2012-09-16 (2:03:10 am) - 2013-08-10 (7:17:03 pm)
  Jup: 2013-08-10 (7:17:03 pm) - 2014-05-29 (11:56:03 pm)
  Sat: 2014-05-29 (11:56:03 pm) - 2015-05-11 (11:27:22 pm)
  Merc: 2015-05-11 (11:27:22 pm) - 2016-03-17 (10:23:49 am)
  Ket: 2016-03-17 (10:23:49 am) - 2016-07-23 (6:25:52 am)
  Ven: 2016-07-23 (6:25:52 am) - 2017-07-23 (12:14:38 pm)

Thus, we can see that he will be running Sun-Venus.

Sun-Venus are conjunct (and Venus is combust with 7 degrees of separation) in his 3rd House of courage and initiative, with Venus ruling his 2nd and 9th Houses, while the Sun rules his 12th House.  They are aspected by functional and natural malefic Ketu and exalted Jupiter (4,7) from the 11th House of achievements and awards, and by retrograde Mars (3,8) from the 9th House of fortune.

These seem to bode well for young Magnus, and are corroborated by his D9, D10, and D60 charts.

Transit-wise, both Jupiter and Saturn (double-transit effect) will be aspecting his 5th House of creativity, mind, and intelligence.

Perhaps the birth time of Karjakin will appear here before the end of the month as well...

Here is his D1 rasi chart with aspects.   Let us see if any conditional dashas apply.    His Asc is 18Virgo55, an even sign, 2nd Hora.    This is a Sun Hora with the Moon waxing....therefore the Shodashottary Dasha also applies.    For this dasha, the correct Ayanamsha to use is Chitra Paksh.
Below are 2 wheels his rasi and his D10 Career charts.    Currently, he is in Mercury/Jupiter period in this dasha.    In his rasi chart, Mercury is in his 4th of happiness aspected by Mars in the 9th H of Luck.   Mercury rules his 10th of Status, Fame and 1st, Self.    Mars rules his 3rd of Self Initiatives and 8th of Surprises.    Jupiter is in his 11th House, Gains from profession.
In D10, Career varga, shown below, Mercury is in 3rd with benefic Venus, ruler 11th, gain from career.     Jupiter is in his 11th of Gains and casts a benefic aspect to Mercury.

Here is a noon chart for Sergey Alexandrovich Karjakin.    Let's create also a speculative chart.....He has a 7 planet stellium.....which House would this stellium be for a chess player?....chess is a game, and games are ruled by the 5th House....let's rotate the chart so that most of his 7 planet stellium ends up in the 5th H, with a Leo Ascendant....Leo's love games.    Below is his Noon chart and his speculative chart giving a Leo Ascendant.
In Firdaria(variant) he is currently in a Jupiter/Venus period.      On November 21, 2016 he enters Jupiter/Mercury.     Jupiter is in his 11th House of GAINS like Carlsen & Mercury rules 11th.....suggesting many of the matches will end in TIES.

Hello Halina, thank you again for your contribution here...I tend to agree that this match will be much tougher for Carlsen to win than the previous matches he played.  Karjakin may indeed have a very strong chart as well...

After 10 games, the score is tied 5-5!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chess_Championship_2016

As the champion has a couple of very challenging aspects now showing up in his chart, I would not be surprised if Karjakin takes the crown, however, we still have no birth time for Karjakin.

At the very least, Carlsen is going to have to overcome some serious obstruction these next two games...

I have no idea, but its fascinating that two boys of similar age could rank so highly in the chess world. I don't think it would be good to predict, it would ruin the game.

But, just a quick look at Sergey Alexandrovich Karjakin's chart suggests that with his Capricorn Sun and Mercury-Saturn-Sun conjunction that he would be a fairly methodical and strategic player.

Could be a close call though.

Will be very interested in the result afterwards.  :)

James has this contest ever been so closely conteste? Thanks for bringing the match to our attention with some astrological perspective...

I understand that the champ will be in his element in the upcoming "speed play."

Looking forward to your debriefing...

Double cheers to Magnus – since he won the championship match on his birthday!

With the solar return highlighting his mentally quick natal Sun-Mars opposition (Sagittarius-Gemini) - and energizing a natural head start ;) - probably no surprise he had a competitive advantage in yesterday's high-speed tiebreaker round.

Yes, James, thanks for starting this thread. I don’t know much about chess but enjoyed reading about the players and following the scores during the match.

Thank you again, HVA and pdw!

Yes, it was a magnificent match...Karjakin should be very proud of his performance.  Even though a birth time has not yet surfaced for him, it is easy to see that he has some very strong placements.

Thank you pdw, for commenting upon Carlsen's Western solar return chart.  Three days ago I noticed that his Jyotisha solar return chart for 2016-2017, which went into effect just hours before the final games began yesterday, was much stronger than his solar return chart for 2015-2016.  Sort of makes me wonder whether Carlsen has an astrologer or two on his team.

There have been other closely contested matches for the World Championship throughout history, but none recently.  It seems as though Carlsen's strategy was that he knew he would not lose more than one game, so he played it safe throughout, knowing that he had a distinct advantage on the final day.  And it took Karjakin nearly 3 1/2 hours yesterday to finally crack, but crack he did, as he kept finding himself in significant time trouble.  I'm sure he'll work on this in preparation for the next World Championship match.

One other thing I noticed astrologically going into yesterday, was that Carlsen's experience of the malefic planet transits were in separation to his natal planets, while Karjakin's malefic planet transits were applying to his natal planets.  This was also huge, in addition to Carlsen's more fortunate 2016-2017 solar return charts.

Here's a link to a nice summary of the match...
