With transiting Uranus opposing Putin’s natal Venus, his formidable Russian staging and troop buildup at Ukraine’s border has kept the world on edge and in suspense – will he invade Ukraine and start a war in Europe?
Perhaps he has enjoyed the drama and being the center of attention, with Uranus intensifying his 1st House Venus in Scorpio desire, passion, and possessiveness related to Ukraine and fueled by his autocratic dominance (Venus is ruled by his Leo Pluto at MC).
His aim…passion/obsession…and justification for his actions? Stems from his distorted, some say, view of history (and we might anticipate personal idealism and beliefs emphasized with SA Neptune=Venus in orb in his chart). Apparently he doesn’t like how Ukraine gained its independence in the past, and wants to restore the old order with Ukraine under Russian (his) rule. And many fear that he (emboldened with a natal Pluto-MC trine to Mars) has the will and stomach for aggression, destruction, and deaths, on both sides, in a war.
Tension has been heating up with T Venus and T Mars aligned in Capricorn, and Putin made a move yesterday - with T Venus-T Mars opposing his natal Uranus, squaring his natal Saturn, and trine his natal Jupiter (an Earth singleton in Taurus, for emphasis on territorial expansion) - when he ordered troops into pro-Russian regions of eastern Ukraine.
Looks active for Putin through the end of February with T Venus-T Mars squaring his natal Neptune-Mercury as transiting Mercury and Saturn conjunct his Node, trine natal Saturn, and square natal Jupiter at the beginning of March (close to the date you mentioned, James).
