Hello Forum, a few thoughts as I’ve been watching Mars, the traditional symbol for war, aggression, and conflict – literally what we’re seeing in Ukraine as Mars marches through this March (the month named for Mars!).

Often an indicator of immediate, pressing, or vital concerns that move us to act (out), Mars is transiting in Aquarius, a sign associated with unique, independent-minded ideas as well as collective social ideals that reflect individual freedom and liberty (such as democracy for Ukraine). And currently Venus is transiting closely with Mars, an astrological fit for values held dear married to the martial instinct to uphold, defend, and battle for their survival (against Putin).   

Russia escalated the war at the beginning of the month, including a strike on a Ukraine nuclear plant, with transiting Mars-Venus conjunct transiting Pluto, in Capricorn, and inconjunct Zelensky’s 4th House natal Saturn – suggesting a shocking, destructive, transformative event, totally changing the status quo in Ukraine and intensifying President Zelensky’s efforts to support and protect his country.   

Then, transiting Mars-Venus entered Aquarius and activated Zelensky’s 9th House, any natal 9th House planets (none) and transits (a very significant one, with T Saturn nearing conjunction with his Aquarius MC) - referencing both his increased international focus, to solicit assistance for Ukraine, and the widespread recognition and admiration that he has received for his leadership.

As Venus-Mars neared conjunction with his natal Sun-Venus, in early Aquarius, we saw Zelensky emerge as an extraordinary individual and loving leader, with great courage, strength, and commitment to Ukraine and his people. A rousing warrior for freedom and independence on the world stage, his eloquent, earnest, and moving appeals, for help to strengthen Ukraine’s resistance, have earned him worldwide respect and accolades. 

Coming up, I’m watching President Zelensky’s chart and life for Mars-triggered development (frustration, disagreement, or pain, physical or otherwise) when: 

-T Mars squares Zelensky’s MC-ruling natal Uranus (being opposed by T Uranus) and opposes his natal Moon, exact March 28-30.

-T Mars conjuncts his MC, exact April 2.
