Lost Horary Book
« on: January 13, 2009, 07:28:43 PM »
Lets try this one.

I have lost one of my favourite Horary Books so thought I would use Horary to find it.  However, this time I'm not doing a good job so thought perhaps someone else could have a try.

Attached is the chart of the question 'Where is my Horary Book?"

Hi, Alice : Here my try

SAT in 9. and URAN in 3. rulers of 2nd. H.   3rd h. books , 9th horary so radicality singing song...
Also natural ruler 2nd VENUS in 2nd  MEANS...the book at home

>> SAT. virgo in 9th  direction SOUTH WEST , 9th H says upper level , is there a steps in your one floor house or shelves --- virgo says ground level . So my interpretation : SW if it is in the shelves or steps but at the bottom level...

>>> TRANSLATION OF LIGHT : MOON separating sextile SAT. and applying 4 degree arc of sextile JUPT. in 1st, which is natural of the 9th house
VEN. in 2nd also apply  conjunct to NEPT.(modern ruler 3rd books) 4 degree of arc

>>>> MOON last aspect; Semi-sextile to MARS(r.4) again unit of arc 4 degree. Moon natural ruler of missing items and c.r Asc. Semi -sextile works...

>>>>> TIMING : MOON scop. in 11 . fixed sign long , 11 th H. medium time. I set my time logical days -weeks-months  There element in the charts (as MR) saying acting fasts....
Date of question Dec.27 --- What 4 time unit singing to me , around 4 weeks BINGO !

Alice , I am busy now , I have to see my lawyer this afternoon , this one I did in a hurry , when I come back I can look at it again

Thank you Yilmaz

I feel sure I must have put it somewhere in my bookcases, but because I have so many I am at a loss as to where.  I certainly haven't put it back where it belongs.

I just thought I would mention for you and for others reading this post that in the Southern Hemisphere the MC is in the North direction and the IC is south, East and West remain the same.  Therefore Saturn in the 9th house describes a Northern and just slightly western direction and Uranus in the 3rd describes a Southern and just slightly eastern direction.  The Vertex axis describes East and West.  Attached is the Local Horizon chart showing these positions.

I thought that as Jupiter is ruler of the 3rd house (reading materials) and conjunct the Ascendant in Capricorn the book might be in a South Easterly direction on the ground or in a cupboard.  My bedroom is South East and lots of books tend to end up there, but I can't find it.

I too thought I might find the book in 3-4 weeks, so I am glad you agree.  If that is the case I should find it next week as I asked the question on 24th December.

If I do find it I will let you know when and where.

Alice,

Again please excuse my inexperience but this is my attempt....

Astrology book - I would look at both Mercury and Uranus because Mercury rules books/information and astrology is ruled by Uranus. Mercury is in Capricorn and I immediately got an impression of other books, older books possibly, wooden shelving. I also saw that Uranus was in the 3rd so it's also suggesting to me a study, other communication or book areas. Mercury is in the 12th so perhaps it's hidden under other books or has fallen behind a desk etc.

Moon in Scorpio in 11th, could you have forgotten it in a friend's house after studying astrology?

Thank you,

Maz

Hi Maz

It is a very good first attempt  :)  8)

The likelihood of the lost book being in the position you describe is very, very high.  It should be in my study/office, which is full of wooden bookcases full of astrology books.  It is almost certainly hidden under or behind other books, but I can't find it for all of my searching.  I have looked under desks, under paperwork, in drawers and cupboards, but so far no luck.

I think the Moon in Scorpio in the 11th might describe me looking at the book whilst talking to a friend or a student/friend on the telephone, or using it for a horary forum,  but it is not near the phone or anywhere I usually talk on the phone, or near the computer.   You can see the Moon just separating from a square to Neptune in Aquarius (modern ruler of the 3rd house), which suggests me putting it down somewhere in an absent minded muddle.  The Moon is applying to a sextile to Jupiter, traditional ruler of the 3rd, so I am hopeful I will find it soon.

If I consider Mercury as ruler of the 9th house of higher mind and long distance connections as well as ruler of books, it is in applying favourable aspects to Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter so this too suggests I will find the book.  Mercury was just rising over the horizon when I asked the question, again suggesting I was talking to someone before mislaying the book.

Alice,

Very enlightening.... It's very interesting the way the process moves from one point to another as well as using modern and traditional rulerships.

I would also hate to have to wait 4 weeks to find a book and when this has hapenned to me, (I have loads of books and so does my wife), I use it as an opportunity to ransack my library, drawers and study area to make everything neat and tidy to find the book which I ususally do!!! This can take me about 3 or 4 hours so I may try the horary approach next time.

Very nice, thanks

Alice,

Your Significator is Saturn as ruler of 1st House. He is posited in 9th, Mercury is L of 9th - learning, education , belief systems, and is posited in 12th. This suggests that your Horary book is not lost but 'hidden from your view' with Mercury in 12th. The Moon is in 11th, also a significator of Querent and Moon is L of 7th, others, so could a peer of friend have handled this book?

My suggestion is that your book may be in your bedroom - private place perhaps in a closet or shelf? There is four degrees between Mercury and Saturn. As four weeks have now passed maybe you are looking at months!

Please do get back with the news and date and time your book is 'found'. I wish you well and the missing book is located.

Hi Alice, I just saw this and am wondering if you ever found your book?!

HI James KW

No.  I had hoped that I would find it when I moved house.  I had to clean out and discard so much stuff and send so many books to  the book shop that I was sure it would turn up ... but no.

Someone who answered my horary suggested that perhaps a light fingered pupil or friend had taken it or that I had lent it and forgotten.  I think one of these must be the case and, unless it turns up unexpectedly, it has gone for good.  I suppose I had better buy a new one.

Alice,

I lost a book -my Ephemeris for 2000-2050 - in early 2009! I had knee surgery at the time I became aware the book was 'lost' but doubt I took it with me to hosp. and it had my name in it. Not exactly a book a non Astrologer would want! One of my friends still asks me about it!

To this day it has not turned up and I replaced it with a copy that looked ok but the spine has fallen - bit like me....:)))  Doubt I will see the book again after so much time has gone by, but I wish you luck. Very frustrating indeed! Please post if and when you find it. Thank you.

To add Alice, I looked at the chart and wondered if it was an Astrology book you were looking for then went back and looked at the chart and it was. The Saturn Mercurial connection  gives this away.

Hi Alice,

I just took a look at what Noel wrote nearly 40 years ago on horary astrology in Volume VIII in his series of books on The Principles and Practice of Astrology, and I'm curious as to whether the following is still considered standard horary practice?!

"A horary rule is that any missing article will be in the home, or, if not a domestic article, where it should be, if the Moon, the ruler of the IInd, and/or Venus (natural ruler of the IInd House) is in an angular House" (p. 117).

This seems to be in line with what you think happened... :)

I see also Noel wrote that a mutual reception means "The rules teach that this means the [missing object] is not now in the place where it was mislaid" (ibid).

So with Saturn (1) in Virgo in the 9th and Mercury (9) in Capricorn in the 12th, this seems to fit as well...

I once had all of Noel's volumes but most have gone now.

The horary I learned then and that we all practiced seems to work far better than the more ancient methods they use today.

At one time I did quite a bit of live radio work and would take my ephemeris plus write down the angles for when I would be on radio and answer questions as people rang in.  This worked very well, the radio station got quite a bit of positive feedback.

I had forgotten the mutual reception rule.  I should do a refresher course!

In this horary question I think that perhaps Uranus, the modern ruler of the 2nd house,  in opposition to Saturn, the traditional ruler of the 2nd house suggests that it is gone because someone else has it, particularly as Saturn is also quincunx Neptune in the 2nd house and ruler of the third.

I thought that the Moon in applying sextile to Jupiter, traditional ruler of the 3rd house, might bring it back to me.  If it does in some way then it looks as though it must be three and a half years from the time I asked the question, which is around the middle of this year.

Its a valid horary chart as there are strong connections to my own natal chart from many points in the horary, but it is the only horary for a long time that has bewildered me.
