10th house question
« on: July 24, 2010, 09:00:22 PM »
"Will my friend get the new job?"

My friend works in a bank and is applying for a new job in an advisory company.

Before i asked the question, she has already passed 3 interviews within 2 weeks.

Since the querent is me, Lord 11 signifies my friend.

Which planet signifies the job? Lord 10 or Lord 8 (10th from 11th)

Many thanks.

Yes, lord 11 signifies your friend and her turned 10th house, i.e. radical 8H ruler represent her present job and nex sign in that house represent her new job. Post chart if you have some doubts.

Thanks a lot, Fensi.

Here's chart data: 2010,7,23, 21:28, 121E29, 31N13 ST +8:00 GMT

Asc: 22Pis07

i read from John Frawley's The Horary Textbook P224
He suggests in the textbook that we use radical 10th to signify the job in this situation,
because the new job is still "external" to my friend.

i was new to the art and i overlooked Frawley's suggestion at first.
I took Lord 8 Mars to signify the new job.
We find Saturn is in Libra.
Although it is exalted and has face diginity
(which is good, at least showing my friend did well in the previous interviews)
it is in the detriment of Mars, showing my friend doesn't like the new job.
This puzzled me, for my friend really wants the new job and she's been carefully preparing for months.

So i became aware of the house selection principles.

Your suggestion (nex sign ruler in the radical 8th to signify the new job) is we see Jupiter as the new job.
Frawley's textbook suggests radical 10th ruler, which is also Jupiter.

Jupiter is in Aries, turning retrograde, and their is an applying opposing aspect between Saturn to Jupiter.

However, before Saturn opposes Jupiter, the Sun, Moon and Mars all aspect Jupiter first, thus making the situation puzzling.

Any further insight to the chart is much appreciated, many thanks:)

John Frawley's The Horary Textbook P224 analyse chart for question Will I get the job, and offcourse then we use 10, but here it is not "I" it is "my friend".
So your friend is Sa exalted , Ma is cureent job, next one is Ju. As I can see, Moon translate the light from Sa yo Ju, so that is "yes" answer to your question. But aspect is square without reception.  Without a good reception then matters that perfect by a hostile square are often "better undone". There is problem which is not apparent and could make the problem last longer.  Square aspect, indicating delays, obstacles, and struggles.

Fensi, Many thanks to your insight. I'll come back with feedback then:)

The Horary Textbook P224

2nd paragraph:

"If the querent is asking about someone else - usually a spouse or a child - applying for a job,
use the radical 10th for the job. ... "

Anyway, in this case it seems to be Jupiter from both opinions.

Fensi, The Moon translates light from Saturn to Jupiter.
In fact, it already squared Saturn and will square Jupiter.

But the Sun also translates light. It already sextiled Saturn and will trine Jupiter.
Does this also make sense in the story?

Yes, very interesting! I did not noticed that! It seams she will have to oportunities and it will be wise to accept second, because in case where Su translate the light aspect are easygoing, sextile and trine, so everything will be OK!
