Soyuz MS-14 launch w/ Skybot (humanoid robot)
« on: August 22, 2019, 04:35:06 AM »
A Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle launched the Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, on 22 August 2019, at 03:38 UTC (09:38 local time). The uncrewed Soyuz MS-14 is the first human rated spacecraft to be launched by a Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle. Soyuz MS-14 will transport cargo to the International Space Station and Skybot F-850, a humanoid robot that can be remote-controlled and was formerly known as Fedor. The Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft is scheduled to automatically dock to the space-facing Poisk module of the International Space Station on 24 August 2019, at 05:30 UTC (01:30 EDT).

Chart mostly looks good  , exalted Moon , Sun Jupiter and Saturn are in their own signs giving strength ,   Venus is debilitated  but Mercury Ruler is ok in Leo.
Venus  the Moon dispositor  in debilitation may be a subtraction.

Thank you, Steven!

A few days ago I was reviewing the rules of Electional Astrology (from various sources) to outline the launch of a project. This (and the cool robot***) is what led me to look at the launch chart of Soyuz MS-14. Although it is impossible to choose the "absolute perfect moment", the Soyuz launch doesn't look very impressive (imo) from an electional perspective. The truth is that the spacecraft launch went  smoothly, with a happy humanoid robot in the commander's seat instead of a cosmonaut.

Two little side notes: Venus conj. Regulus and Chariklo conj. Pluto.
Zane B. Stein found that Chariklo seems to be very active in individuals closely associated with science fiction; the "Whoniverse", the "Outer limits."

Ok, make it three: Nemesis conj. Mercury... whatever that means!

Damn! Final note, I promise: Astrologer Chris Brennan uses Whole Sign house system in Electional Astrology. Joann Hampar uses Placidus houses in her book "The art of timing".

*** "If you’ve seen the movie Avatar, then you’ll understand how FEDOR (F-850) operates. He's a similar sort of avatar, only stripped down. No blue skin or long tail. Outwardly, he looks more like Robocop, and his movements are controlled by a person in a special suit."

The Dignity Table [launch event] alone, spelled trouble!

Another automated docking might be attempted after 48 hours, on 26 August 2019. Best of luck!

Amusing Medieval Musings:
"When the Moon is in this Mansion [4th], sow your seeds, wear new clothes. Wed not. Buy prisoners. Begin to build, for it shall be durable. Buy tame beasts. Enter into no ship for to travel the sea, for you shall have tempests of waves. Take no new fellowship. If you be taken, you shall have long captivity. Build, dig conduits. Buy servants and beasts. Go before what lord you have business with. Beware of weddings." Ashmole 396:

I haven't caught up with the video clips yet Antonio, but what immediately stood out with the initial chart, was that Mars was fairly unobstructed without difficult aspects which would seem to bode well for a launching, but it was conjunct Venus in its fall in Virgo.

Nice Medieval musings, good of you to notify people that way.  ;)

Thank you, Robynne

The launch was successful, but the docking with ISS is the purpose of the test mission. They may succeed on the next attempt but, so far, the marriage is not consummated. Thus, "beware of weddings!"  ;D

We can't accuse the humanoid robot of impotency, as the failure seems to be related with an amplifier of the Kurs navigation system located on the International Space Station. (Wikipedia has interesting info about the Kurs system).

Anyway, I wouldn't venture to work with electional charts without the help of appropriate software. Janus 5 has an improved/updated module for that purpose.

But, just one of the basic tips (as provided before), might help to clear things a bit:

"the placement of the Moon indicates the beginning of your endeavor, and the placement of the lord of the Moon indicates the outcome."

"In practical terms this means that even if the Moon is really well placed, if its lord is very poorly placed then the matter will go well in the beginning but then there will be problems later on."

It also doesn't help that Mercury is the most debilitated planet in the chart... (if we use the Whole Signs system)
