Title: Vocation of a Speculator?
Post by: Bosco on November 23, 2008, 03:35:14 AM
Dear All,
8th House is about other people's money and is related to financial consultants and investment bankers etc.
What of the more outlandish vocation as a speculator? Jim Rogers? Carl ICahn? They do not really manage other people's money but they are investors working on their own accord.
What should I expect to see on their charts then? 5th house involvement?
  Thanks.  ???

Bosco,

I dont know about the people your post mentions but yes the 5th House is the House of Speculation. Look for harsh aspects to the Ruler of this house and also the 2nd and 8th Houses in their charts which will give indications as to how they are travelling as investors. If Saturn is T the 5th, 2nd or 8th they would do well to keep away from volatiliy of the current markets and put their money elsewhere! But where else will be the $64 dollar question - there does not appear to be a safe place atm to lock money in - a large sum of money that is. The Goverment may guarantee up to a certain sum but would not cover millions.

Dont neglect to assess the N Moon and SP and SA Moon current placements - the Moon will give indications of just where the fluctuations will occur. Surw wish I had done just that. Too late now!

Yea Jeff, I know, I mean... is sunflower trying to suggest speculating the current market fluctuation by checking the SP moon and SA moon positions relative to his natal moon or whose natal moon? Or what?

Born February 16, 1936 (1936-02-16) (age 72)
Queens, New York City, New York, U.S.

some observations on both charts omitting Asc, MC due to lack of birth times:

1. Mercury 'power' - Jim Rogers (J.R.) has Mercury stationary while Carl Icahn (C.I.) was born a few days away from a Mercury retrograde station; both Mercury in Air signs

J.R. Mercury sextile Pluto and trine Uranus
C.I. Mercury square Uranus and opp Pluto

2. Mars waxing square Jupiter for both men.

3. An afflicted Moon - C.I. Moon square Saturn; J.R. Moon conj South Node and square Uranus

4. both men have mutable T-squares involving the moon - C.I. Moon, Saturn, Neptune - J.R. Moon, Uranus, nodal axis

Dear m,
It's hard to tell of the significance when we have no idea of the house rulerships...

Hi Bosco,

I did not think you were a Native American BTW.

I think this may have already been answered.

By N = Natal so N Moon = Natal Moon.

By SP = Secondary Progressed Sun, Moon or Planets.

By SA = Solar Arc Sun, Moon or any Planets

Now lets say that a Secondary Progressed Moon in the chart - the Moon indicates fluctations - is moving through the 5th House this is definitely not a time to speculate due to the fluctuations (phases) of this Secondary Progressed Moon. A Secondary Progress Moon in 7th can indicate your feelings for your partner may be going through a time of fluctuations - waxing and waning.

Where ever the Moon is by Natal Placement indicates where we fluctuate or go through phases. The key words for the House meaning will give you good ideas here and look at you own chart to see how you afre affected.

Dear sunflower,
I have tried out planets transit across houses, but I have not attempted to evaluate things by considering the SA or SP planets through houses before. I could have a try. Thanks for the suggestions.
