Self-sufficiency
« on: February 20, 2021, 02:15:44 AM »
You have probably heard or know people who live alone and do not feel the need for social contacts, intimate relationships or friends. These people seem to be enough. I do not mean unhappy in love or desperate for life. Just those who really don't need other people to be happy. Also, they are not selfish who think that no one is worthy of their attention.
They are more like outsiders, hermits. Which planet or aspect shows such self-sufficiency?

I may be such a person because I have a dominant Uranus in opposition to the ascendant. I like to be alone. Even in my family, I keep my distance. Even if I live with a lot of people, I prefer to be alone. In general, the people I live with like my company because I understand them. I can adjust to everyone and their mood. I have Gemini Asc. But I don't always like it and I avoid behaving like that. Otherwise I am reserved and in most cases I suffer criticism for insensitivity. Actually I'm sensitive as my Pisces Sun. They can't understand why, when I'm with them, I go back to my room at some point. But I'm used to it. Lol

Neznam,

You first questioned about "Triangles" and now you ask "which planet or aspect shows such self-sufficiency?"

Triangles and self-sufficiency brings to mind the Grand Trine aspect. Noel Tyl saw the GT as a closed circuit of self-sufficiency.

For those not familiar with the concept, just a few insights on this subject:

Good calls, Amy and Antonio.

Some other possibilities…Saturn can emphasize self-control and self-protection; being guarded or alone. Aquarius can be a detached, impersonal sign. The word recluse makes me think of Pisces-12th House isolation or retreat. Hermit makes me think of Moon-4th House privacy (like a homebody or hermit crab).

Neznam, Uranus opposing your Ascendant may reflect intense interest in relating to others with astrology (or other progressive thinking). ;)

Interesting but I don't have a grand trine, but a T-square. The topic was to understand the difference. :)

Pdw, my moon is in 4th house. About Uranus in Sagittarius I like abstract philosophy and other non-conventional ideas and especially freedom.
But still to say that I like to be alone but not lonely. So I have nothing against relationships, but against commitment.

Neznam,

I don't know your chart, but I can relate. One of the keys is Aquarius as my Sun sign, plus a Mercury-Uranus T-square with the Asc & Sun-Uranus in mutual reception. The defensiveness (soft shell) results from Venus in Pisces, in the 4th, ruling the 7th (Neptune in the 12th & Nep=Sun/Moon). Along with that, a Eastern/Northern hemisphere emphasis. There's more, but that alone shows we don't need a Grand Trine... the full picture must be taken into consideration (basic procedure).

Eastern hemisphere emphasis:

"But still to say that I like to be alone but not lonely. So I have nothing against relationships, but against commitment."

Again, I can relate. I never get officially married, but I got some kind of commitment when I met my lady at age 46! It happened at the time of Solar Arc Sun conj. Venus! It's never too late!  ;D

Neznam; (all I can see is Man zen when I see that backwards  ;D). I had to grin, widely, when I read this as I could so relate to it. I have a Pisces Sun too, as well as the T-square.
Often what seems like insensitivity to others, can actual be oversensitivity, to your environment, tone, innuendo, and a multitude of other factors, but insensitivity is not generally a Piscean factor.

Also people who are more introverted by nature, actually need time alone, you can be social but also find socialising quite exhausting sometimes, especially if you are surrounded by more extroverted types that are needy of social attention or affirmation.

I've always considered self sufficiency to be a positive, even throughout my marriage of 30 years.

To each their own... interesting topic.
Warning; Double Pisces! Delusion or Inspiration may depend on measure of caffeine intake.

Thanks for the interesting answers, Antonio and Robynne!  I often worry that others will like me and become attached to me, because I am a sensitive Pisces and I sympathize with them. I'm usually attracted to people like me. I am automatically attracted to independent and a little strange people. I forgot to say that I have MC conjunct Mercury in Aquarius. I have a friend who often shows me that she likes me. She is Libra and is more social, but she asks me how I manage to be distanced and be friends with everyone. I told her I didn't like arguing about everything with everyone (her problem). Lol
Robynne, it's funny this Zen man, maybe my next nickname ;D

I fall into this category.  Sun conjunct Saturn in Cancer.  Only thing above the horizon is the Moon in Aries 12th House.
