Governor Newsom's Maskless Dinner Party
« on: August 27, 2021, 01:08:51 PM »
Governor Newsom was caught red-handed attending a soiree at a Napa Valley restaurant wearing no mask while the rest of California was under lock down. Now this event is back in the news as Newsom is going through the political crap of a recall for his govern ship.

Maskless Dinner Party at French Laundry Restaurant
Nov. 17, 2020,  I'm guessing party began at 8pm so timing unknown  Yountville, CA

Sun 27 Scorpio (H5), ASC 14 Cancer, Moon 7 Capricorn (H6), NN 21 Gemini (H12)

So, this is what happens when you attend a Scorpio's birthday party. Probably got talked into it. This is when Libras get in trouble.

Chart ruled by Cancer: food, home, Mom, family. Moon is Fast 14 degrees, 9 minutes and also elevated 24 degrees, 46 minutes. For some other reasons I would say that Newsom didn't even really enjoy the meal.

This is close to a Lunar Return for Newsom since natal Moon is 17 Capricorn. Either way, Capricorn can't get away with much and Newsom got caught.
Newsom's chart: https://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Gavin_Newsom

The Sun was in sneaky Scorpio in H5 of parties. It is conjunct Ceres (Mom) and Vertex (?). It is sextile to both Jupiter and Saturn (political parties, social events). They are in the 7th house of open enemies along with Pluto (spies).

One thing really stands out. That's Mars and Neptune. They are both unspected to other planets and most elevated so affecting his reputation. Neptune is 19 Pisces (H9) squaring Nodal Axis crossing H6SN/H12NN (spies). A politician would want to worry about being photographed under that aspect.

Mars (doing what one wants to do in spite of the rules) is in the 10th house of Reputation/Career, unaspected to other planets, intercepted in its own sign of Aries, and also its a singleton in Fire. And good old Chiron (woundings) is in H10 as well.

Good points, thanks. Definitely an intriguing study of the cause-effect relationship between the two days, the Dinner Party on Nov. 17, 2020 and the recall election coming up on September 14, 2021.

In addition to the event chart I think his natal chart on Nov. 17 is telling. He was caught red-handed, as you say, generally suggesting that Mars might be stirring things up in his natal chart then, and it was: T Mars (in Aries and trine his natal Sagittarius Mars) was triggering (opposing-squaring) his natal Sun and natal Moon, and increasing the possibility of careless, risky, thoughtless behavior which turned out to be a self-inflicted ‘gotcha’ moment, so to speak, used against him by adversaries. I feel like his astrologer could have warned him beforehand about this particular T Mars timing and the need to deliberately avoid any inappropriate, questionable, or deceptive behavior that week, in emphasis with potentially higher visibility, vulnerability, and poor judgement (suggested by T Node conjunct MC and opposing natal Mars; and T Neptune squaring MC and natal Mars-IC).

I’m watching these on Sept. 14:

- His lapse of judgement last November reflected an important Mars transit then, and now with the recall, transiting Mars is in a focal position in his 1st House and at a critical degree, 29 Virgo, quincunx his natal Aries NN – reflecting critical adjustment or personal reorientation in relation to the public.

- The transiting Sun, in discriminating and exacting Virgo, is at his ASC-natal Pluto and spotlights the intense personal focus, scrutiny, and doubts related to his work (T Sun also squares MC-IC-natal Mars; and it highlights and opposes the Neptune transit at DSC and squaring MC-IC-natal Mars. Note the prominent emphasis on the Neptune transit with his SA Neptune=Sun=Moon in orb, suggesting personal loss or gain depends on public acceptance.)

Will Neptune reflect a sigh of relief (stay) or disappointment (go) for Newsome? I'm not sure, but there's one more factor suggesting significant personal-professional change with this timing: his natal MC-IC-Mars, eclipsed in June, is being triggered with the T Sun hit. Stay tuned...

Hello Forum:

Yikes, there are major stress aspects for Newsom now.

The current Saturn-Uranus square which is an archetype of disruption and toppling of structures is hitting his natal Mercury at 12-Scorpio, ruling the MC and ASC.

Tr. Neptune touches the angles.

Tr. Neptune in hard aspect to Mars (r. the political 8th) and Pluto (power).

On September 14th, Tr. Moon in Capricorn will trigger his natal Moon-Saturn square...negative mood.

One positive is Tr. Jupiter opposes his natal Jupiter.

We shall see.

His Jyotisha chart is very interesting on Sep 14...

He will be running Jupiter-Ketu-Saturn in his Vimshottari Dasha.  Saturn is debilitated in his D-10 chart (profession).  It is in his 8th House in his birth chart.  It is also receiving a close aspect from transiting Ketu.  And transiting Rahu in his 10th is making a close aspect to transiting Saturn in his 6th.  Additionally, transiting Jupiter will be debilitated on his 6th House MEP (Most Effective Point).  These don't bode well for him.

He may have three saving graces.  One, transiting Ketu's aspect to natal Saturn is separating, two, transiting Sun on Sep 14 will be exactly conjunct his 1st House MEP, with Sun ruling his 1st, and three, transiting Mercury will be exalted on the MEP of his 2nd House of status.

Right now, it's nearly split 50-50, so that means the Democrats will vote to keep him in office, while the Republicans will vote to oust him.

It may come down to voter turnout...

Larry Elder is currently the leading candidate to replace Newsom...here is his chart...what do you see?!

Hello James:

Saturn-Uranus hard transits have a 'king slayer' quality to them. It seems almost inconceivable that California could have an African-American conservative Republican governor in 2021 but with this aspect all bets are off as the ground shifts.

With Newsom, as mentioned above, the Saturn-Uranus square aspects natal Mercury (r. ASC, MC).

With Elder, the Saturn-Uranus square aspects his ASC and MC.

Does that make Elder the slayer and Newsom the slain?

It could very well happen (see next comment below) but even if Newsom pulls it off, the cracks in his foundation might be irreparable and he could be challenged for re-election in 2022 from within the Democratic party. In such a scenario, Newsom's current Neptune transits to the angles would render him a lame-duck governor - in office but essentially powerless.

Also, let's not ignore Saturn-Uranus' ability to stir up chaos. What if the result is too close and we go days or weeks in a stalemate?

Further on this theme of the inconceivable becoming real, and the outsider toppling the insider – consider these three Anglosphere examples from the last Saturn-Uranus waning square in the mid-1970s.

Margaret Thatcher, a woman, takes on the Tory establishment and becomes Britain’s Conservative party leader in 1975.

Canada’s Joe Clark wins the leadership of the Federal Conservative party at age 36 in 1976. So obscure was his candidacy that when he won, the media referred to him as “Joe Who?” – a label that stuck for years.

Jimmy Carter, an obscure governor wins the presidency in 1976 against all the odds. An evangelical from the Deep South, he appeals to an America fed up with the establishment post-Watergate.

Thanks for the chart, James.

It looks like quite a challenge for Elder, an extraordinary (T Uranus is at ASC) and ambitious goal (T Saturn is in his 10th squaring his natal Sun), though one he was willing to commit to (T Saturn trine his natal Saturn in 6th House).

It’s hard to believe Elder, a Republican outsider, can win the battle against Newsome’s money and Democratic-Hollywood backing (Elder’s natal Mars at DSC also is being squared by transiting Saturn). On election day Sun-Venus connections for attracting votes (with T Sun quincunx his natal Venus and T Venus nearing opposition to his natal Sun) don't look exactly favorable. Transiting Mercury will trigger (conjunct-oppose) his natal Neptune-Venus opposition signaling a day of public approval or disappointment related to it. One last thing, he has a natal cardinal MC-Jupiter square which is highlighted at 29 degrees Capricorn and Aries, and will be (acutely) highlighted on Sept. 14 with T Mars at 29 Virgo trine-quincunx this natal square. I’d say this might reflect a less than successful outcome except T Mars also creates an interesting and tight midpoint with his natal Jupiter and NN - T Mars=Jupiter/NN (successful teamwork, per S&C). We’ll see…

I wonder if Elder has consulted with Arnold...Gray Davis lost California's first recall election in 2003 to a Republican outsider who was inaugarated on November 17: Governor Arnold Scharzenegger.

Thanks Dean and pdw,

"If Governor Newsom is recalled, when would a new governor take office?

County elections officials have 30 days after the election to complete the official canvass. On the 38th day after the election, if the recall is successful, the Secretary of State will certify the election results, and the new governor would take the oath of office and assume the position for the remainder of the term (through January 2, 2023)."

According to both of their Jyotisha charts, this is going to come down to when exactly the "winner" is announced.  Whenever that is, it will contain elements of the abnormal, unusual, surprising, different, etc., since both Rahu and Ketu are very active.

Of course, the Democrats will do whatever they can to keep Newsom in office, so will enough Republicans turn out to vote against him, as they traditionally do?

Get your popcorn ready!

Newsom has "won", since enough Democrats turned out to make sure they didn't lose.

"The 2022 California gubernatorial election will take place on November 8, 2022, to elect the Governor of California. Incumbent Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom will be seeking a second term, after fending off a recall challenge in 2021."

This will be much tougher for him to win, since on this date transiting Ketu will be nearly exactly conjunct natal Mercury, ruler of his 2nd House of status.  And there's both corroboration and confluence to boot...
