Saturn Retrograde Transit X
« on: April 06, 2012, 12:30:36 PM »
When Saturn transits the X house, one experiences a peak in one's career, it is said. When Saturn goes retrograde during this transit, how should one interpret the retrograde element?

it's not so much the retrograde as the *aspects* saturn makes when doing so. All transits act as background influences until they make an aspect to another planet or angle...

please post your chart.

If the planet is just retrograding through the 10th house and not contacting any planet, then it is a time of reassessment connected to matters to do with career, administration, goals and perhaps parents, with decisions made when Saturn moves back into direct motion.

If Saturn is retrograde whilst transiting a planet, interestingly it often marks a time when events happen or you meet people or situations that are part of the transit story.

Thanks a lot Alice & Saggi.

I always use the retrograde hit for timings. When you see it approaching, check where T mars is as I call it the 'ignition key' to set something off..

Hello Asir:

I have personally experienced two tours of duty...of Saturn's retrograde motion in the natal 10th house. Plus, I have Saturn retrograde by birth. It is an absolute myth that reflection and re-evaluation occurs...

In most people's lifetimes, you will get AT LEAST two KICKS OF THE CAT... from Saturn...

It has a variety of effects, from absolutely NOTHING happening, to significant business developments. Saturn retrograde is sometimes important whenever it crosses a 10th house planet that happens to reside in the 10th house.

However, I have also seen nothing taking place when Saturn is retrograde but conjunct a certain natal planet,,,,

When Saturn transits the X house, one experiences a peak in one's career, it is said.

That is another astrological 'myth' that needs exploring.  Is Saturn's transit to the natal 10th house, a career peak, or is it... a culimination of one's previous actions...?

That (saturnian) claim was perhaps originally hypothesized by the late Grant Lewi, the former editor of Dell Horoscope Magazine, who wrote an entire ground-breaking book on the subject of Saturn's transitory role in the natal chart. (ie. Heaven Knows What)

It is interesting to note how different "name-brand" astrologers perceive that (10th house?) transit of Saturn...

For example, Noel Tyl has a prominent, well-aspected 10th house Saturn in his own natal chart, so naturally, he feels that career success should be validated through every person's Saturn contact with their own 10th house ?

Not transits, though, but Solar Arcs ! LOL Well, here's the problem with Solar Arcs..they don't always work, either ! LOL

Meanwhile, for Tyl and Grant Lewi both to bang the drum about Saturn's tour of the 10th house... is that not an unhealthy, fraudulent sense of entitlement ? Maybe Tyl's natal Sun conjunct Jupiter brings about that sense of entitlement ? For Grant Lewi, his natal Saturn was peregrine and found in a rather weak cadent house....so since it did absolutely nothing in his own natal chart (except a square to the MC?) it was one less hoop for him to jump over... OR, one less thing for him to worry about ?

Perhaps the weakness of his own natal Saturn contributed to Lewi's very tragic death at a very early age (47 or 48?)

Astrologer Robert Hand, on the other hand, has a natal chart that is more "human.." or more similar to yours or mine ? in that his natal Sun in Sagittarius is afflicted, or opposes Saturn in Gemini...

Compared with the natal chart's of Tyl and Lewi, Hand's personal natal Saturn is MUCH more afflicted or difficult...than those two....

Interestingly, Hand's view of transiting Saturn in the 10th is much more constrained or "dumb-downed" or has less of a sense of false entitlement to the receiver...than Tyl's or Grant Lewi's versions...?

In his legendary book, Planets in Transit, Hand makes it pretty clear (to me?) that Saturn travelling in the natal 10th house is well.. good ole' SATURN, and not necessarily a Santa Claus-like transit...

For example, Hand says that when Saturn transits the natal 10th house and midheaven,  "you will get what you deserve and not necessarily career success..."  It could also be the downfall of your own career and reputation, too, IF your previous actions warranted it or if you took shortcuts ? LOL

Hand reasons that it all depends on what you did with yourself... during the previous 14 years, when Saturn was climbing your natal chart from houses IV to IX ?

Well, LET"S BE FRANK ! With an afflicted natal Sun and Saturn, those individuals are more likely to take a shit-kicking, in career matters, as opposed to a Noel Tyl or a Grant Lewi....

When Sun is afflicted to Saturn, natally, you WON"T be getting everything that you want... in career and/or personal ambitions...Saturn transiting in the 10th house or not !

Therefore, when it comes to natal chart analysis and Saturn analysis, one MAN"S MEAT...is often another man's (or WOMAN's) POISON...?
