If you're not doing fixed stars, you're not doing astrology
« on: April 15, 2018, 12:47:24 AM »
Judy Malinowski died in August 2017, age 33, two years after being torched by her boyfriend Michael Slager outside a gas station near Columbus, Ohio in June 2015.

She was born on August 26, 1983. Sun conjunct Venus, sextile Saturn and Pluto, square Jupiter and Uranus.

Nothing that ominous or so evil looking in her chart as to indicate such a terrible fate.

Progressed Jupiter had moved over her natal and progressed Uranus. Her Sun ruler, Mercury, had moved to square her progressed Node.

Solar Arcs at age 31: Mercury conjunct Saturn, Saturn square Venus, Neptune square Pluto. Still not enough. So where was the evil?

The answer lies in Mars. Her natal Venus was at about 0 Virgo, debilitated. By progression her natal Mars at 8 and a half Leo had moved to conjunct her Venus. Why was this single progression so aggressive?

Part of the answer: A single fixed star. She was born with Mars conjunct South Asellus at 8 and a half Leo.

8°35 Leo - South Asellus (Asellus Australis): Military preferment, blindness, eye trouble, shipwreck, mass murder, horrors, self-willed, uncooperative. Unfortunate; Sun/ Mars. (https://www.astromcouncil.com/single-post/2017/07/30/List-of-Fixed-Stars-and-Degrees) and The Asses, Asellus Australis and Asellus Borealis, portend a violent death to such as come under its influence. North and South Aselli outflank the stellar cluster Manger. This might be the origin of nativity pictures of the birth of Christ, of the donkey always behind the manger. Both these fixed stars correspond to the effects of Sun and Mars. They are therefore a positive influence if in conjunction Ascendant, Midheaven or stellar bodies of the same character, and especially if  with Sun and Mars.(https://astrologyking.com/asellus-australis-star/)

MAR: 8 of Leo: It is my belief that the fires of hell have been mistaken for the fires of heaven. The forces of evil are held together by cold and frozen elements. Therefore, evil forces need fear losing their identity when confronted by the fires of heaven. There is in this degree a mystical fire which, when understood properly, gives love and light as a true Son of God. However, all the dangers of fire are inherent here as a warning to anyone not properly prepared to deal with fire in a beneficial way. This degree may represent the blossoms or the thorns on the rosebush. This explanation comes not so much as a warning to the native who must deal with the fire, but to those who come in contact with him. For this degree gives quite a clear understanding of the qualities necessary to live in truth. We must of course remember that most people fall short of such understanding. However, the natives of this degree perhaps come closer than most of us to understanding these qualities. The true Son of God must be a perfect blend of love and will-power. "Be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves." This native will in some sense be subjected to trial by fire. It will be only the pure metal that survives such fires. He may even work in some field closely associated with fire, and may literally be subjected to threats of loss by fire. He may be expected also to have a tremendous ability to outwit his opponents by clever and cunning means, a wolf in sheep's clothing. In a highly spiritual horoscope this degree's influence will endow the native with the power of heavenly fire surging forth with ardor unquenchable, unsullied, and all-consuming. Its light will be hidden from the sight of the unworthy and might even stay invisible to most eyes or escape notice altogether. In the bush blazing with unearthly flame, much-too-human beings will fail to see the light of the Absolute and will be alive only to the fact that the thorns in the bush sting anyone attempting to violate its mystery. Such are the conflicting features of the zodiac's one hundred twenty-eighth degree; fieriness along with reserve; aims sublime yet secret; a nature flashing with hope and led by the most generous impulses of self-denial, yet constantly on its defensive, as the thorns and the flames in the bush clearly imply. On the contrary, should the horoscope as a whole point to a lustful nature, the Lion's eighth degree would shift to its opposite polarity and, instead of a divine imprint, give it a Lucifer bent. The burning bush will thus change into the lunar devilish image of Cain and the thorns. Then an unquenchable passion, impure yet devoid of hidden motives and mental reservations, will slowly and steadily eat up the whole being, body and soul. The fire might not die out before having wasted the mind to its innermost reserves and burnt out the organism to its last shred. (from Esther Leinbach, Degrees of the Zodiac)

RIP Judy, brave soul.

That is a horrific story...

And I think you are correct in calling Judy a "brave soul." She made a public appearance on camera to bring the attention to the plight of victims of abuse and encouraged them to get out of those damming relationships.

Thanks for this post adol and whether one uses astrology without fixed stars, uses fixed stars exclusively, or doesn't use astrology at all, I would hope that Judy's Law will help victims and their counselors of all stripes. echo her sentiment and encourage those in harms way to GET OUT and GET HELP!

So sad,

HVA

On the day of the attack, transiting natural malefic Ketu (South Node) was exactly aspecting her natal Jupiter in Scorpio.

Additionally, transiting natural malefic Saturn was closely conjunct natal Jupiter.

No benefic aspects onto natal Jupiter.

Amy,

You might relate more to this degree then:

Quote
7°24 Leo - *North Asellus (Asellus Borealis): Patience, beneficence and courage, heroic and defiant leader. Fortunate; Sun/ Mars

Very sensible advice there Tim.

Are you working with a sourced birth time? If not, the above is an undisciplined overstatement, imho.

Let's honor this lady's spirit with the best astrology has to offer, by acknowledging upfront that without a birth time we are missing important factors (the degrees of her natal Moon and Angles) that are critical for personal interpretation and individual timing.

If she was born with a late pm birth time, for example, transiting Pluto would have been in her 10th House conjunct her MC at the time of this horrible tragedy (reflecting major change, transformation), while it was squaring her natal Moon in the 12th (increasing the possibility of emotional or physical crisis, extreme loss). That kind of tension would suggest a very personally vulnerable, perhaps threatening or dangerous period; potentially ominous, as you say.

Thank you, pdw, I agree with you.  I do believe that the astrology will always reflect the life without using fixed stars, asteroids, Sabian symbols or a hundred other things.  There are plenty of things in her horoscope to suggest her fiery energy even without the angles anyway.  Moon probably closely trine to Mars in Leo.  Sheesh.  This lady stuck up for herself.  Venus rx-Sun square to Jupiter-Uranus in Sagittarius.  E-gads. That energy demands something constructive.  I have a feeling that her Pluto-Saturn sat on her ASC.  What the hell was a pretty woman like that doing with a tattooed monster anyway?  Sad.  So sad.

Amy, insofar as you were born a week after me, that means that you have the Sun conjunct Regulus.  I've wondered about your feelings about that.
